To ensure its proper protection, it is worth blocking access to some websites. In Google Chrome, this can be done with a simple extension. In this guide we show you how to do it.
How do you block websites in Chrome?
It’s good to know that Google Chrome doesn’t have a blocking option. You will need a special plug-in that is integrated with the above-mentioned browser – Block Site. This extension offers, among others the ability to block websites, blocking pages containing specific keywords in the address, restricting access to websites by introducing an additional layer, e.g. password or creating white lists.
How to install Block Site? Download the external plugin and then click Add to Chrome. Click the Settings button (located in the upper right corner). In the next window select Extensions and then Options. In the next tab in the List of blocked sites field, enter the addresses of the sites that will now be blocked by Google Chrome.
After adding the selected page that Google Chrome will block, the redirect to option appears. Thanks to this, by entering the address of the blocked page, you will be transferred to the one you entered in the redirection options each time. A very practical option. After making changes, you can additionally protect it with a password – to do this go to the Authentication tab, select Enable authentication and enter the password by confirming with the Set password button. Done, you’ve just blocked unwanted sites.
You probably wonder what gives you password settings? Well, it will put a protective layer on the extension settings. Each time you try to edit settings, the extension will ask for an authorization password to save the changes. However, if you select the Require password to access blocked sites option, it will impose a protective layer on websites. If you want to go to the blocked site, you must enter the authorization password set in the extension.
